Not the band or the first book of the Bible, but the beginning of this blog. I've been wanting to blog for some time now, but I wasn't really sure what my "focus" would be.
I had pretty much given up on this whole blog bit until one day when I was sitting in my classroom, listening to my seniors give their senior presentations. (Background info: At my school, seniors present on careers they are interested in pursuing.) More than several students mentioned that they wanted to teach because the hours are good and teachers have "lots of time off."
Just today, I was attempting to make an eye doctor appointment, and somewhere in the conversation, I mentioned that I am a teacher. To that, the receptionist replied, "I'm soooo jealous. I wish I had two months off!"
Along those same lines, I'm often asked what I do with all my vacation time. Last year, I was a bit embarrassed and frustrated by the fact that at the end of the summer, aside from a trip to Montana with my husband, I couldn't really think of what I did.
But this year is going to be different. My goal is to chronicle my summer vacation. If I do something remotely exciting, I'm going to post it. If I sit in the recliner and watch Gilmore Girls reruns all day, I'm going to post it. When someone asks what I did for my summer, I'm going to give them the link to this site, and when I can't remember what I've done . . . well, I'll have this blog to help me out.
Technically, my summer doesn't really start until June 3, but I will probably post some next week just to get the feel of this. Graduation is tomorrow night; doesn't summer really begin when the students are gone??

I'm going to be flitting around all over the place! (haha)
Just like Beneatha in A Raisin in the Sun, Amy always "flits so" from one thing to the next.
